The Aerospace Industries Association announced on Aug. 4 that Sarah Crawford will join the organization as Senior Director for International Affairs, following her experience in both the federal government and the defense industry.
Eric Fanning, President and CEO of the Aerospace Industries Association, said, “Foreign defense sales are no longer a niche issue for the U.S. aerospace and defense industry — they are central to growth, competitiveness, and global leadership. As AIA continues to expand its engagement on this issue, it’s critical we have top talent like Sarah, who has both the industry and government experience needed to help advance our members’ priorities, here at home and with foreign partners. Her experience will strengthen our work at a time when these issues matter more than ever.”
Crawford previously served as Senior Manager for International Trade and Global Policy at a leading defense company. She brings 15 years of federal government service to her new role, including 12 years spent overseas. She holds a master’s degree in International Economics from Johns Hopkins School of Advanced International Studies and attended the Arabic Language Institute at the American University in Cairo.
The Aerospace Industries Association operates within the aerospace and defense sector by supporting manufacturers and suppliers through advocacy efforts, networking opportunities via councils and committees, access to over 1,400 industry standards, promotion of international business ethics since leading the International Forum on Business Ethical Conduct in 2010, and shaping U.S. policy on national security matters including aviation safety and space innovation while advancing diversity initiatives—all according to the official website.
Crawford’s appointment comes as foreign defense sales become increasingly significant for U.S. aerospace companies seeking global leadership.
