Pedro Rodriguez, 36, of Anna was sentenced on Aug. 5 to over 20 years in federal prison for drug trafficking and firearms violations in the Eastern District of Texas, according to an announcement by U.S. Attorney Jay R. Combs.
Rodriguez pleaded guilty to conspiracy to distribute and possess with intent to distribute methamphetamine, as well as possession of a firearm in furtherance of a drug trafficking crime. U.S. District Judge Sean D. Jordan sentenced Rodriguez to 248 months in federal prison.
Court information showed that an investigation into methamphetamine trafficking led authorities to Rodriguez. From at least September 2024, Rodriguez conspired with others to distribute methamphetamine throughout the Eastern District of Texas and elsewhere. He was also found in possession of a firearm during his drug trafficking activities.
The case is part of Operation Take Back America, described as a nationwide initiative using Department of Justice resources aimed at addressing illegal immigration, eliminating cartels and transnational criminal organizations, and protecting communities from violent crime perpetrators.
The investigation was conducted by the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration and the Collin County Sheriff’s Office, while Assistant U.S. Attorney Lesley D. Brooks prosecuted the case.
The U.S. Attorney for the Eastern District of Texas covers 43 counties across East Texas with offices located in Beaumont, Lufkin, Plano, Sherman, Texarkana and Tyler; it employs about 100 staff members including roughly 50 assistant U.S. attorneys who prosecute federal crimes and provide civil litigation services as part of the United States Department of Justice while supporting victims through dedicated services, according to the official website.
