Bear Stewart LLC announced on June 26 a voluntary recall of a single lot of Bakr Brown Butter Chocolate Chunk Ready To Bake Cookie Dough pouches due to the potential presence of undeclared soy. The company said individuals with an allergy or severe sensitivity to soy could face serious or life-threatening allergic reactions if they consume the affected product.
The recalled cookie dough was distributed through Target retail stores in Southern California, Southern Nevada, Arizona, and Utah beginning June 11. The product is sold in the frozen section in 8-ounce blue packages and can be identified by lot number 2606022, which appears on the bottom left corner on the rear side of each pouch.
According to Bear Stewart LLC, no illnesses related to this recall have been reported so far. The company said the issue was discovered when it found that product containing soy had been distributed in packaging that did not list soy as an ingredient. An internal investigation determined that S’mores cookies were mistakenly packed into Brown Butter Chocolate Chunk pouches due to a temporary problem with Bear Stewart’s packaging processes.
Consumers who purchased Bakr Brown Butter Chocolate Chunk Ready To Bake Cookie Dough with lot number 2606022 are urged by Bear Stewart LLC to return it to their place of purchase for a full refund. Customers seeking additional information can contact Bear Stewart at 1-800-697-BEAR.
