Boyd Clark, 42, of Beckley, pleaded guilty on July 22 to distribution of fentanyl. According to court documents and statements made in court, Clark sold approximately 1 gram of fentanyl to a confidential informant at a Beckley hotel where he was staying on October 31, 2025.
As part of his guilty plea, Clark admitted to conducting the transaction and further admitted to selling additional 1-gram quantities of fentanyl on November 5, 2025, and February 24, 2026. These sales also took place in Beckley and involved the same confidential informant. The investigation revealed that Clark was on federal supervised release at the time these controlled drug buys were made due to a previous conviction in the United States District Court for the Southern District of West Virginia.
Clark is scheduled for sentencing on November 13, 2026. He faces a maximum penalty of 20 years in prison, at least three years of supervised release, and a fine up to $1 million.
United States Attorney Moore Capito announced the plea and commended the investigative work conducted by the Beckley/Raleigh County Drug and Violent Crime Unit. This unit includes officers from the West Virginia State Police, Raleigh County Sheriff’s Office, and Beckley Police Department.
United States Magistrate Judge Omar J. Aboulhosn presided over the hearing, and Assistant United States Attorney Timothy D. Boggess is prosecuting the case.
