Beekeeper’s Naturals announced on June 12 a voluntary nationwide recall of its Saline Nasal Spray, lot number 5950 with an expiration date of February 2028, after the product tested above acceptable microbiological limits for yeast and may contain Aspergillus species. The affected product was sold exclusively through Amazon between April 2 and April 24, with a total of 585 units distributed.
The company said the contaminated lot was produced at a third-party manufacturer and shipped to Amazon before testing results became available due to a clerical error. Beekeeper’s Naturals has directly notified all purchasers of this lot in coordination with Amazon.
According to the announcement, people with weakened immune systems or lung diseases are at risk for serious or life-threatening infections such as invasive sinusitis and lung infections if exposed to Aspergillus contamination. The company has received four reports from customers regarding adverse reactions potentially related to the recalled product, including sinus congestion, irritation, or infection.
The saline nasal spray is used as a rinse for sinus congestion and comes in a single-unit one fluid ounce (30 mL) bottle. Customers are advised to check the lot number on their bottle; if it reads Lot 5950 (Best By: 02/2028), they should discontinue use immediately. Affected consumers can contact Beekeeper’s Naturals by phone or email for refunds or questions. Those experiencing problems related to using this product are encouraged to contact their physician or healthcare provider.
Adverse reactions or quality problems can also be reported directly to the U.S. Food and Drug Administration’s MedWatch Adverse Event Reporting program online, by mail, or by fax as detailed in the company’s notice. No other Beekeeper’s Naturals products—including Nasal Spray Max—are impacted by this recall.
Beekeeper’s Naturals said it has taken immediate corrective action to identify and resolve the source of concern and remains committed to maintaining rigorous quality standards.
