Marcus Reavenell, 48, of Washington, D.C., was found guilty on July 27, 2026, of multiple charges stemming from a road rage shooting that occurred on May 14, 2025, in Northeast Washington. The announcement was made by U.S. Attorney Jeanine Ferris Pirro.
Reavenell was convicted of assault with a dangerous weapon, possession of a firearm during a crime of violence, unlawful discharge of a firearm, unlawful possession of a firearm, reckless driving, and destruction of property less than $1,000. The conviction for possession of a firearm during a crime of violence carries a mandatory minimum sentence of five years’ imprisonment.
Sentencing is scheduled for October 2 before Superior Court Judge Errol Arthur.
According to the government’s evidence presented at trial, Reavenell attempted to cut off another driver at the intersection of Eastern Avenue and Division Avenue NE before tailgating and driving erratically behind the victim’s vehicle. He continued to follow the victim until he pointed a pistol out his van window and fired at the victim’s work vehicle, striking its rear door. Reavenell then fled the scene but was later arrested on July 9 and has remained in custody since that time.
Chief Jeffery Carroll of the Metropolitan Police Department joined in announcing the conviction. The case was investigated by the Metropolitan Police Department and prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorneys Randle Wilson and Kadian Carter.
