News Release: WASHINGTON - National Park Service (NPS) Director Chuck Sams, Federal Highway Administration Associate Administrator for Federal Lands Tim Hess, and federal and local elected leaders today participated in a ceremonial groundbreaking for the rehabilitation of the northern section of the George Washington Memorial Parkway. The approximately $161 million project is one of the largest infrastructure investments funded by the Great American Outdoors Act.

Whale Waters Update for Glacier Bay Effective July 19th, 2022
News Release: BARTLETT COVE, ALASKA - Glacier Bay National Park and Deputy Superintendent Tom Schaff announced today that the 13-knot “whale waters" vessel speed limit near Willoughby, Francis and Drake Islands is being lifted. In addition, a modified whale waters area in the West Arm is being created to reflect a shift in whale distribution. These updated operating requirements are effective from 5 AM Tuesday July 19th until further notice.
