BLM Mother Lode Field Office to issue seasonal fire restrictions

News Release: EL DORADO HILLS, Calif. - The Bureau of Land Management Mother Lode Field Office will issue seasonal fire restrictions effective Monday, June 6, for all BLM-managed public lands in Amador, Calaveras, El Dorado, Mariposa, Nevada, Placer, Sacramento, Stanislaus, Tuolumne and Yuba counties. Seasonal fire restrictions are in addition to the BLM year-round statewide fire prevention order and will remain in effect until further notice.

National Park Service to install mile-markers on the Anacostia Riverwalk Trail to enhance visitor safety

News Release: WASHINGTON - The National Park Service is taking steps to improve visitor safety along the Anacostia Riverwalk Trail by installing mile-markers. These markers will allow visitors to accurately describe their location in the case of an emergency to law-enforcement or rescue personnel. The NPS plans to start installing the mile-markers on June 7.

Temporary safety barrier to be installed along the Double Arch Bridge

News Release: TUPELO, Miss. - On June 6, 2022, the National Park Service (NPS) will begin construction of a temporary safety barrier on Double Arch Bridge (Milepost 438) near Nashville, Tennessee. Motorists and bicyclists should expect one-lane closures, 10-to-15-minute traffic delays, and Birdsong Hollow pullout to be closed. The bridge will be closed to pedestrians and hikers for the project duration.

Ignitions Complete on 2022 Ash Mountain Prescribed Burn

News Release: SEQUOIA NATIONAL PARK, Calif. June 6, 2022 - As of this afternoon, ignitions are complete on the 2022 Ash Mountain Prescribed Burn in Sequoia National Park. In all, approximately 15 acres between the Sequoia National Park entrance station and the Foothills Visitor Center, one mile inside the park were treated. Additional acres will be treated manually through the grazing of the parks’ stock animals or through weed eating.

News Release: The National Park Service (NPS) is excited to announce that the Camp Nelson National Monument Visitor Center and Museum will be open 7-days a week starting on Memorial Day (Monday, May 30, 2022) through Labor Day (September 5, 2022). News Release: (MALTA, Mont.) - The Bureau of Land Management (BLM) is proposing a withdrawal of more than 900 acres at the Zortman-Landusky Mine reclamation area, in addition to the lands previously proposed for withdrawal on October 7, 2020. The total acreage of the two withdrawals would cover approximately the same area as the previous 20-year withdrawal that expired in 2020.
