Deputy Secretary of State Christopher Landau met with the Foreign Minister of North Macedonia, Timčo Mucunski, in Washington, D.C., on July 17. The meeting focused on advancing the partnership between the United States and North Macedonia by deepening cooperation in energy, infrastructure, and security.

According to Spokesperson Tommy Pigott, “They discussed ways to advance our partnership, particularly by deepening ties on energy, infrastructure, and security. They found many areas of agreement, including a shared concern that burdensome regulation is a threat to economic prosperity.”

The discussion highlighted mutual interests and ongoing efforts to strengthen bilateral relations. Both parties agreed that reducing regulatory barriers could contribute positively to economic growth.

The engagement underscores continued diplomatic collaboration between the two countries as they explore opportunities for further cooperation across multiple sectors.
