The United States Department of Homeland Security announced on July 28 the deportation of several individuals described as some of the worst criminal illegal aliens, including gang members and those convicted for homicide, sexual assault, arson, drug trafficking, and assault.
Assistant Secretary Lauren Bis said, “Every day, ICE is deporting more worst of the worst criminal illegal aliens from our country. Just yesterday, we deported murderers, sexual assailants, arsonists, drug traffickers, and gang members.” Bis also said, “Under President Trump and Secretary Mullin, ICE has been unleashed to arrest and deport these dangerous criminals. Fire up the deportation planes!”
Among those removed were Diego Cardona from Guatemala—an 18th Street gang member with a conviction for homicide; Andres Gonzalez Hernandez from Mexico—a Paisas gang member with convictions for sexual assault, burglary, robbery, assault and larceny; Francisco Matos Izquiedo from Cuba—convicted for aggravated assault (non-family) with a weapon and cocaine sale as well as other charges; Junior Gabriel Arcentales Villavicencio from Ecuador—convicted for drug trafficking; and Jose Manuel Ibarra Sanchez from Mexico—with convictions for arson and domestic violence.
The announcement highlights ongoing efforts by Immigration and Customs Enforcement to remove individuals deemed threats due to their criminal records. The Department stated that 80% of Americans support efforts to deport criminal illegals from communities.
