The United States Department of Homeland Security announced on July 31 the deportation of several individuals described as some of the worst criminal illegal aliens, citing offenses such as child sex crimes, kidnapping, and burglary.
Assistant Secretary Lauren Bis said, “Just yesterday, ICE deported criminal illegal aliens that include pedophiles, kidnappers, burglars, and gang members. Every single day, we remove criminals from American communities. It’s no wonder crime rates have reached record lows, including the murder rate projected to fall to a 126-year low!”
Among those deported were Moises Gutierez from Mexico, identified as a Paisas gang member. His record includes convictions for driving under the influence and illegal re-entry, along with arrests for sex offense against a child—fondling and sex assault—sodomy. Jorge Barrientos-Amaya from Costa Rica was also removed; his convictions include cocaine smuggling and marijuana possession.
Omar Montes-Hernandez from Mexico was listed among those deported with convictions for burglary, larceny, and illegal re-entry. Pedro Gomez-Diaz from Mexico had convictions for aggravated assault with a gun, robbery, and kidnapping, as well as arrests for domestic violence and illegal re-entry. Jose De Jesus Zumba Pesantez from Ecuador was noted for a conviction for assault.
The Department highlighted that 80% of Americans support efforts to remove criminal individuals who are in the country illegally.
