The United States Department of Homeland Security announced on July 20 the successful completion of a deportation flight that removed over 100 illegal aliens to Haiti, including individuals with serious criminal histories. The deportation took place on July 16 and involved people convicted or charged with crimes such as molestation of a minor, armed carjacking, domestic violence, battery, hit and run, resisting an officer, robbery, carrying a concealed weapon, and fraud.
According to the department’s announcement, seventy percent of Immigration and Customs Enforcement arrests are of illegal aliens who have been charged or convicted of a crime in the United States. Assistant Secretary Lauren Bis said, “Last week, ICE deported pedophiles, carjackers, drug traffickers and perpetrators of fraud to Haiti. Criminal illegal aliens have NO place in American communities. Our message to illegal aliens is clear: LEAVE NOW. If you don’t, we will find you and deport you.”
Among those removed were Styv Charles and Timothe Matel from Haiti, who were both convicted for offenses involving minors; Marc James Guerrier Pinard for armed carjacking; Franck Descollines for two counts of felony hit and run; Valry Isaac Exantus for fleeing police as well as narcotic possession and domestic violence; Markendy Henry for selling narcotics including marijuana and heroin along with drug trafficking charges; Jacksonn Louinord for fraud; Fito Almanor for domestic violence and false imprisonment; and Wadson Chery for resisting an officer.
The Department highlighted these cases as examples among those considered ‘worst of the worst’ criminal offenders being returned to their country of origin.
