Executive Assistant Commissioner Diane J. Sabatino, a senior official with U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP), shared updates on CBP operations and her recent public engagements in a series of posts on July 13, 2026.
In one post, Sabatino highlighted an incident involving the interception of plant materials at Miami International Airport. She wrote on July 13, “Someone brought a whole tree from the Bahamas! @DFOFlorida K9 Winstin found a noni tree, mangrove seedling, rhoeo plant, and unknown palm at @iflyMIA. All were destroyed to stop invasive species. #OFOProud”, underscoring ongoing efforts by CBP to prevent the introduction of potentially harmful non-native species into the United States.
Later that day, Sabatino discussed her participation in the EDGE26 Fireside Chat event focused on trade security. In her post dated July 13, she stated, “Grateful to join the #EDGE26 Fireside Chat to discuss @CBP’s role in securing trade using our enforcement authorities and advanced tech. We’re ensuring cargo compliance, the safety of products coming in, & protection of revenue. Economic security is national security. #OFOProud”
Sabatino also took part in a roundtable discussion during EDGE26 alongside other CBP leaders. On July 13 she posted, “During the #EDGE26 Roundtable, I joined @CBP leaders to discuss how we manage to secure the cargo of 20 million containers entering US ports each year. Collaboration and innovations help us manage risk and secure the global supply chain.”
