Executive Assistant Commissioner Diane J. Sabatino, a senior official at U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP), shared updates on her social media account regarding recent developments in border security and drug interdiction operations.

On July 20, 2026, Sabatino reported on a meeting with Mexican customs officials, stating, “Last week I had the pleasure of meeting with the head of #ANAM @AduanasMx, Hector Alonso Romeo Gutierrez (@aloyub) to discuss our important partnership.  Our continued collaboration strengthens border security. Our cooperation is vital to our National Security missions.” The mention of ANAM refers to Mexico’s National Customs Agency, led by Hector Alonso Romeo Gutierrez.

Later that same day, Sabatino posted about an incident at the Tecate Port of Entry (POE). She wrote, “STOPPED AT THE PORT Tecate POE
An empty trailer was sent to secondary after a K9 alert and scan anomalies.
CBP officers found 109.44 lbs of cocaine concealed inside a false wall at the front of the trailer.
Empty trailer. Full of problems.
#OFOproud”
The discovery involved the use of canine units and scanning technology during routine inspections.

On July 21, 2026, Sabatino highlighted another interdiction effort at Honolulu International Airport (HNL), noting, “STOPPED AT THE PORT HNL
An outbound baggage inspection uncovered more than expected.
CBP officers selected a U.S. citizen traveling to Japan for inspection and discovered 13 packages containing 34.28 lbs of cocaine concealed inside checked luggage. @DFOsanfrancisco
#OFOproud”

These statements reflect ongoing efforts by CBP to strengthen partnerships with international agencies and interdict illegal narcotics shipments through both land borders and airports.
