Executive Assistant Commissioner Diane J. Sabatino, a senior official with U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP), highlighted ongoing efforts to combat human trafficking and drug smuggling in a series of tweets posted on July 22 and 23, 2026.
On July 22, Sabatino marked the anniversary of the Blue Campaign, an initiative led by the Department of Homeland Security to raise awareness about human trafficking. She stated, “It’s the anniversary of the Blue Campaign and everyday we combat human trafficking. @dhsgov remains vigilant in identifying trafficking indicators, protecting victims, and working with our partners to stop this crime. The following day, Sabatino reported on two separate cocaine seizures at the San Ysidro port of entry in California. On July 23 at 14:01 UTC, she wrote, “40 POUNDS of cocaine discovered in a vehicle! @DFOSanDiegoCA CBP officers at the San Ysidro port of entry after a K9 alerted to a vehicle. 15 packages of cocaine were hidden in the seats of the vehicle.

Later that day at 18:00 UTC, Sabatino shared another incident from San Ysidro: “STOPPED AT THE PORT San Ysidro POE

These announcements underscore CBP’s role in addressing both human trafficking and drug interdiction along U.S. borders. The Blue Campaign is DHS’s national public awareness campaign designed to educate the public on recognizing indicators of human trafficking and how to respond appropriately.
