Executive Assistant Commissioner Diane J. Sabatino shared updates on recent drug seizures by U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) officers in a series of posts published between June 19 and June 20, 2026.

On June 19, Sabatino reported that “Last week, @DFOBuffalo CBP officers discovered 1,600 POUNDS of marijuana manifested in a shipment labeled as ‘chocolate.’ The estimated street value of the seizure is about $4 million. #OFOProud https://t.co/qcO2mDSmnX https://t.co/ocRQ9HqqrV”. The post highlighted the significant volume and estimated value of the confiscated drugs at the Buffalo port of entry.

Later that day, she described another interdiction at the Ysleta Port of Entry: “STOPPED AT THE PORT Ysleta POE A truck was sent to secondary after anomalies were detected during inspection. A K9 alert confirmed there was more to find. CBP officers found 12 packages containing 13.58lbs of meth and 1.41lbs of fentanyl powder in the tailgate. #OFOproud https://t.co/hswML5zAnE”. The use of K9 units and inspection protocols played a key role in this discovery.

On June 20, Sabatino detailed another case: “STOPPED AT THE PORT Progreso POE A vehicle was referred to secondary based on an officer’s observations at primary. A K9 alert and scan anomalies led CBP officers to 23 packages containing 51.85 lbs of cocaine concealed in the rear quarter panels. #OFOproud https://t.co/ivhOC5FYPh”.

These incidents reflect ongoing efforts by CBP to intercept illegal narcotics entering the United States through various ports of entry. According to official data from U.S. Customs and Border Protection, seizures of drugs such as marijuana, methamphetamine, fentanyl, and cocaine have increased over recent years due to enhanced detection methods including canine units and advanced scanning technologies.
