Chair Joni Ernst announced on July 14 that Mid-States Companies has been named Small Business of the Week as part of her ongoing effort to recognize a small business in each of Iowa’s 99 counties during this Congress.
“Mid-States Companies’ American entrepreneurial spirit steels the show with their dependable services to the agricultural industry in the heart of the Grain Belt,” said Chair Ernst. “The Vier family has built a business rooted in excellence, earning the trust of their customers while demonstrating an unwavering commitment to strengthening their community.”
Mid-States Companies was founded in 2001 by Kevin and Shelley Vier. The group supplies grain handling, engineering, fabrication, crane, and trucking services. What began as a 7,000-square-foot millwright fabrication shop with five employees has expanded into several states and now operates out of a facility over 100,000 square feet in Nevada, Iowa, employing more than 100 people.
Chair Ernst plans to continue highlighting outstanding Iowa small businesses through her Small Business of the Week award.

The committee features Lindsey Graham as chairman and Jeff Merkley as ranking member. It contributes to the congressional budget process via resolutions and reconciliation instructions; it was established through the Congressional Budget and Impoundment Control Act of 1974, and it provides nonpartisan budgetary analysis through oversight of the Congressional Budget Office, according to the official website.
