Federal authorities announced on July 20 the unsealing of a 15-count indictment charging 11 defendants, known as the BB7 Defendants, with racketeering conspiracy related to their involvement in the ‘Bad Boys’ (BB7) set of the Trinitarios street gang. The indictment alleges a series of violent crimes between September 2023 and September 2025, including five murders, multiple assaults, and armed robberies across New York City, Westchester County, and northern New Jersey. A twelfth defendant was charged separately for his alleged role in a gunpoint robbery involving an international music artist.
United States Attorney Jay Clayton said, “As alleged, the BB7 Trinitarios, operating from their historical headquarters in the Bronx, terrorized communities in New York City, Westchester, and northern New Jersey, night after night. This indictment reflects a broad-based effort by SDNY and our dedicated federal and local partners to stop the violence and bring relief to affected communities across the tri-state area. Collectively, we are committed to holding gang leaders and their deadly associates accountable for their truly brutal conduct.”
FBI Assistant Director James C. Barnacle Jr. said, “Members of the BB7 criminal organization allegedly carried out a campaign of violence that left victims and families suffering unimaginable loss. Today’s outcome sends a clear message: this type of violence will never be tolerated in New York.” NYPD Commissioner Jessica S. Tisch added, “These defendants… took part in a wave of violence and crime that claimed multiple lives and terrorized neighborhoods.”
The indictment details several incidents attributed to BB7 members or associates: murders occurring on March 30, July 28 (two victims), August 2 (one victim), an attempted armed robbery on August 16 resulting in serious injuries to two victims; as well as carjackings—including one leading to death during a high-speed pursuit—and an armed robbery targeting an international music artist using GPS tracking technology.
The charges include racketeering conspiracy; murder in aid of racketeering; interstate stalking; Hobbs Act robbery; firearm use; attempted murder; assault with dangerous weapons; attempted carjacking resulting in death; among others. Potential penalties range from maximum sentences of life imprisonment or death for certain counts down to terms ranging from ten years upwards for other offenses.
Authorities emphasized interagency cooperation as critical to dismantling what they described as an organized network responsible for regional public safety threats. The case is being prosecuted by the Office’s White Plains Division with support from various law enforcement agencies across state lines. All defendants are presumed innocent until proven guilty.
