First Lady Melania Trump announced on June 12 a week of initiatives aimed at empowering children and youth, highlighted by the Presidential Artificial Intelligence Challenge National Champion Awards Ceremony and the launch of Fostering the Future Accounts for foster youth.
On June 9, Trump recognized six student National Champion Teams during the first ever Presidential Artificial Intelligence Challenge National Champion Awards Ceremony at the White House. The event honored students who demonstrated achievement in artificial intelligence, marking what was described as a historic moment for emerging talent in this field.
Later in the week, on June 11, Trump launched Fostering the Future Accounts. Developed with support from the Department of the Treasury, these accounts are designed to serve as savings and investment vehicles specifically for youth in foster care. According to information released by her office, “these accounts are America’s first savings and investment vehicle for youth in foster care, providing them with greater opportunity to build long-term financial stability and independence.” The initiative has already received commitments from twenty-three governors to establish these accounts within their states’ care systems.
