U.S. Senate Judiciary Committee Chairman Chuck Grassley announced on June 1 that eight major technology companies have provided detailed responses outlining their plans to improve the reporting of online child sexual exploitation. The companies—Meta, TikTok, Amazon, Snapchat, xAI, Roblox, Grindr, and Discord—submitted updates following Grassley’s oversight of their previous reporting practices to the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children (NCMEC).

Grassley said, “Keeping kids safe online and protecting parents’ peace of mind are top priorities for me as Chairman of the Senate Judiciary Committee. In order for families to succeed in the digital era, Big Tech must be held accountable. I appreciate these companies responding to my oversight and I’ll be closely watching to ensure the proper safeguards and reporting requirements are in place to prevent abuse, safeguard children and prosecute suspected predators.”

According to the summary released by Grassley’s office: Meta submitted over 2.6 million reports involving suspected child sexual exploitation in late 2025 and is adding new technical details such as location coordinates and metadata to its reports. TikTok reported over 2.1 million cases from January through June 2025 and plans several improvements within sixty days, including more focused information in its submissions. Amazon detected more than one million instances of suspected child sexual abuse material in 2025 but found that most were false positives after human review; it is updating its detection systems accordingly.

Snapchat submitted about 752,000 reports in 2025 with additional enhancements planned, such as expanded device data collection and annotations for specific types of exploitation cases. xAI reported over 135,000 incidents last year with plans to rebuild its pipeline for more comprehensive data sharing with NCMEC. Roblox sent more than 65,000 reports in 2025 while working on better victim identification procedures; Grindr submitted over 111,000 reports last year with staff training upgrades underway; Discord sent nearly half a million reports with changes being made to reduce duplicate submissions.

The Senate Judiciary Committee exerts influence on federal law enforcement practices through legislative review and oversight responsibilities, according to the official website. The committee is chaired by a senator who leads bipartisan members overseeing meetings related to judicial nominations as well as constitutional protections.

The committee’s work impacts public safety nationwide through both legislative action and ongoing scrutiny of federal agencies.
