Among the measures advanced was H.R. 309, the National Law Enforcement Officers Remembrance, Support and Community Outreach Act. Introduced by Representative Troy Nehls of Texas, this bill provides grants to support the National Law Enforcement Memorial Fund and its outreach initiatives. The legislation aligns with Executive Order 14288 issued during President Trump’s administration.
Other bills include H.R. 1693 by Representative Harriet Hageman of Wyoming, which renames the National Historic Trails Interpretive Center in Casper after former Representative Barbara Cubin; H.R. 4931 by Representative Greg Murphy of North Carolina authorizing extended leases within national parks; and H.R. 5063 by Representative Jen Kiggans of Virginia, ensuring adequate lifeguard staffing at federal beaches.
The committee also reported out H.R. 6021 by Representative Nick Begich of Alaska amending migratory bird treaty laws so that authentic Alaska Native artworks made with certain materials are not prohibited; H.R. 8454 by Representative Tom McClintock of California transferring federal land jurisdiction in California for improved management; H.R. 4219 by Representative Ed Case codifying an invasive species program for wildlife refuges; and H.R. 8121 by Delegate Stacey Plaskett redesignating a historic bandstand in St. Croix.
The committee’s actions reflect ongoing efforts to address resource stewardship, recognize cultural heritage sites, back law enforcement initiatives, and clarify regulations affecting Alaska Natives.
