U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement announced on July 17 the arrest of several individuals described as “worst of the worst” criminal illegal aliens, convicted of offenses including human trafficking, rape with force or violence, and drug trafficking.
Assistant Secretary Lauren Bis said, “Just yesterday, ICE arrested child sex traffickers, violent sexual predators, drug traffickers, and other public safety threats who have no business remaining in our country.” Bis also said that “Sanctuary politicians’ anti-ICE rhetoric has contributed to our officers facing a more than 1,300% increase in assaults against them. Despite these smears, ICE will continue to get criminals off our streets. Under President Trump and Secretary Mullin, DHS is putting Americans first.”
The arrests include Juan Manuel Curiel-Banuelos from Mexico for human trafficking of a minor for commercial sex act in Ventura, California; Nalesh Prasad from Fiji for rape with force or violence in Sacramento, California; Miguel Munoz-Lara from Mexico for attempted forcible sodomy and forcible sexual abuse in Salt Lake County, Utah; Alexander Vasquez-Valentin from Mexico for possession with intent to distribute a schedule I/II narcotic in Sussex County, Delaware; and Emanuel De Jesus Arroyo-Aviles from Mexico for smuggling of person with intent to flee in Eagle Pass, Texas.
ICE reported that despite what it described as an increase in assaults against its officers—over 1,300 percent—the agency continues operations around the clock to remove individuals it identifies as threats to public safety.
