U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement announced on Aug. 5 the arrest of several individuals described as criminal illegal aliens, convicted for crimes including murder, attempted sexual assault of a child under 12 years old, first-degree sexual conduct, and drug trafficking.
Department of Homeland Security Secretary Markwayne Mullin said, “Just yesterday, ICE arrested murderers, pedophiles, sexual predators, drug traffickers, and other public safety threats. Every day, the men and women of ICE are arresting and removing illegal aliens from our nation. The Department of Homeland Security is committed to delivering President Trump’s promise to the American people to deport illegal aliens and make America safe again.”
The announcement detailed specific cases from various states: Osbert Marion Otien Owuor from Kenya was convicted for murder in Compton, California; Douglas Benitez-Herrera from Honduras was convicted for manslaughter, aggravated assault, robbery, possession of a controlled substance – cocaine – and driving under the influence in Nashville, Tennessee; Daniel Santos-Aguilar from Mexico was convicted for attempted sexual assault of a child under 12 years old in Madison County, Alabama; Javier Zapien-Arreola from Mexico was convicted for first-degree sexual conduct in Hennepin County, Minnesota; Julio Rudolfo Roldan-Hernandez from Guatemala was convicted for conspiracy to possess with intent to distribute five kilograms or more of cocaine in Tampa, Florida.
ICE reported that these arrests are part of ongoing efforts by its officers nationwide. The agency highlighted that Americans can see more public safety threats arrested in their communities on its webpage WOW.DHS.Gov.
According to ICE officials quoted in the announcement released by the Department of Homeland Security on Aug. 5, these enforcement actions align with broader initiatives undertaken during President Trump’s administration.
