U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement arrested several individuals convicted of serious crimes including murder, sexual exploitation of a minor, and possession with intent to distribute methamphetamines, according to a July 23 announcement from the Department of Homeland Security.
Assistant Secretary Lauren Bis said, “Yesterday, ICE law enforcement arrested murderers, pedophiles, drug traffickers, and other criminal illegal aliens. These monsters should have never been in our country to begin with. Under President Trump and Secretary Mullin, illegal aliens are no longer welcome in the U.S. If you are here illegally, our message is clear: LEAVE NOW OR FACE THE CONSEQUENCES.”
Among those arrested were Khamkong Chittamath from Laos, who was convicted for second-degree murder in Hartford, Connecticut; Blanca Marisela Mendez-Ramirez from Guatemala, who was convicted for first-degree involuntary manslaughter in Perry County, Missouri; Fahed Ahmad Husein from Syria, who was convicted for second-degree sexual exploitation of a minor in Mecklenburg County, North Carolina; Rogelio Perez-Chavez from Guatemala, who was convicted for aggravated sexual battery involving a victim less than 13 years old in Newport News, Virginia; and Rogelio Garcia-Alvarado from Mexico, who was convicted for possession with intent to distribute methamphetamines in Atlanta, Georgia.
The agency reported that nearly 70% of its arrests involve individuals charged or convicted of crimes within the United States.
