U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement arrested several individuals convicted of serious crimes, including sexual offenses against children, in multiple states, according to a July 28 announcement.
Assistant Secretary Lauren Bis said, “Day in and day out, the brave men and women of ICE are removing the worst of the worst from American communities. Just yesterday, ICE arrested pedophiles, sexual predators, and other public safety threats.” Bis also said that under President Trump and Secretary Mullin, ICE is working to arrest and remove illegal aliens to make America safe again.
According to the agency, nearly 70% of ICE arrests are of illegal aliens charged or convicted of a crime in the United States. The recent arrests include Efrain Banuelos-Lopez from Mexico, who was convicted for lewd acts with a child under 14 years old with force in Norwalk, California; Sengkham Soumpholphakdy from Laos, who was convicted for first-degree rape and three counts of first-degree sodomy in Springfield, Oregon; Juan Arrue-Mancia from El Salvador, who was convicted for aggravated sexual assault in Hillsdale, New Jersey; Omar Cortes-Castillo from Mexico, who was convicted for sexual assault in Austin, Texas; and Silverio Garcia-Rodriguez from Mexico, who was convicted for possession of a firearm by an alien illegally in the United States in Mobile, Alabama.

ICE continues its efforts to remove individuals it identifies as threats to public safety.
