U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement arrested multiple individuals convicted of serious crimes, including manslaughter, child pornography, assault, and drug trafficking, according to a July 16 announcement from the Department of Homeland Security.
Acting Assistant Secretary Lauren Bis said, “Thanks to the heroic men and women of ICE law enforcement, we are removing murderers, child predators, violent assailants, drug traffickers, and other public safety threats from our communities.” Bis also said that “ICE is NOT backing down and will continue to remove criminals from our communities. Eighty percent of Americans support the Trump Administration’s commonsense efforts to deport criminal illegal aliens.”
The agency provided details on several recent arrests. Angel Luis Rodriguez-Hidalgo, a Cuban national in Las Vegas, Nevada, was convicted of manslaughter with use of a deadly weapon and identity theft. Deepak Ratnala from India was convicted on three counts of child pornography in Chester County, Pennsylvania. Luis Fernando Preciado-Lopez from Guatemala was convicted of assault, alien smuggling, cocaine sales, and obstruction of police in Houston, Texas.
Other cases included Victor Gonzalez-Ibarra from Mexico, who was convicted of conspiracy to distribute more than 500 grams of cocaine as well as possessing or carrying a firearm during a drug trafficking crime in San Antonio, Texas. Ramsas Solurzano-Martinez from Mexico was also arrested after being convicted of distribution of methamphetamine in New York City.
