U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement deported Agustin Morales-Renteria and Juan Becerra Ruiz, both 24-year-old Mexican nationals, to their home country on July 21, where they are wanted for aggravated homicide and intentional homicide, respectively.
Deportation officers from ICE’s Houston Field Office transported Morales-Renteria and Becerra Ruiz from the Montgomery Processing Center in Conroe, Texas, to the Juarez-Lincoln Bridge in Laredo, Texas. There, Mexican authorities assumed custody of both individuals.
“Under my watch, Southeast Texas will never become a safe haven for dangerous criminal illegal alien foreign fugitives like these two, regardless of the misinformation and lies being spread over the past couple of weeks by open borders and anti-immigration enforcement groups trying to demonize our officers and undermine our mission,” said ERO Houston acting Field Office Director Gabriel Martinez. “In conjunction with our partners, our officers continue to drown out the noise and give everything they have to enforce our nation’s immigration laws without prejudice, while prioritizing enforcement actions that enhance public safety, national security, and border security. As a result of their efforts, these two fugitives will now face justice for their alleged crimes, providing closure to the friends and families of their alleged victims.”
According to ICE records included in its announcement, Morales-Renteria first entered illegally on or about September 21, 2021; he was expelled under Title 42 protocols due to COVID-19 health measures. After a warrant was issued for his arrest in Mexico on October 19 that year for aggravated homicide charges—following his reentry into the U.S.—he was arrested in Missouri on December 4, 2024, but no action was taken at that time due to federal immigration enforcement priorities then in place. He was later convicted of being an illegal alien in possession of a firearm on November 4, 2025; after serving an eighteen-month sentence he was transferred into ICE custody May 21 before being ordered removed by an immigration judge July 2.
Becerra Ruiz entered the U.S. at an unknown date or location; a warrant for his arrest related to intentional homicide was issued October 21, 2022, by authorities in Querétaro state. In May this year U.S. Border Patrol received notice regarding his location near Houston; agents detained him during a June traffic stop before transferring him into ICE custody June 4. An immigration judge ordered him removed June 30 with removal completed July 21.
