Terrence Robinson, also known as Brian Jacobs, was sentenced on July 16 in New Orleans after pleading guilty to conspiracy to commit the interstate transportation of stolen vehicles. Robinson, age 41 and a resident of Carriere, Mississippi, received a sentence of six months imprisonment followed by three years of supervised release and must pay a $100 mandatory special assessment fee.

According to the indictment, Robinson and others created fake credit profiles using stolen and fake social security numbers, drivers’ license numbers, and dates of birth. These fraudulent profiles were used to secure funding for auto loans. After obtaining the loans, they purchased vehicles from local car dealerships with no intention of repaying the loans. The vehicles were then either sold for personal profit or used for personal enjoyment.

U.S. District Judge Susie Morgan handed down the sentence following Robinson’s guilty plea. U.S. Attorney David I. Courcelle announced the sentencing.

Courcelle said he praised Homeland Security Investigations, Louisiana State Police, and Pearl River County Sheriff’s Office for their work investigating this case.

Assistant United States Attorney Paul J. Hubbell of the Narcotics Unit is leading the prosecution.
