Leran Ortiz Pittman, a 42-year-old resident of Davis, Oklahoma, was sentenced on July 27 to 15 months in prison for one count of felon in possession of a firearm, according to the United States Attorney’s Office for the Eastern District of Oklahoma.
The conviction stemmed from an investigation by the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives and the Davis Police Department. Pittman pleaded guilty on October 21, 2025. Investigators said Pittman knowingly possessed a semi-automatic pistol on January 7, 2025, after previously being convicted of a crime punishable by more than one year imprisonment.
The sentencing hearing was presided over by Senior Judge Ronald A. White in the United States District Court for the Eastern District of Oklahoma. The office reported that Pittman will remain in custody with the U.S. Marshals Service until he is transported to a designated United States Bureau of Prisons facility to serve his non-paroleable sentence.

The program serves as part of Operation Take Back America within the Department of Justice’s efforts.
