A Petersburg man was sentenced to 10 years in prison for possession with intent to distribute methamphetamine, according to a July 16 announcement from the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Eastern District of Virginia.
Court documents state that on November 19, 2024, law enforcement conducted a controlled purchase of 102.81 grams of 95% pure methamphetamine from Rayquan Tyrell Coleman, age 30. On December 13, 2024, officers searched two residences associated with Coleman in Chester and Colonial Heights, as well as two vehicles linked to him.
During the search at the Chester residence and vehicle, investigators found a rifle, two safes, vehicle registrations, money count sheets, $69,107 in cash, two cellphones, methamphetamine, marijuana and packaging materials. At the Colonial Heights location and associated vehicle, law enforcement recovered a handgun along with quantities of methamphetamine, cocaine, marijuana and ecstasy tablets. Officers also seized $4,349 in cash as well as packaging materials and a digital scale containing residue. The total amounts recovered included approximately 839 grams of methamphetamine; nearly 86 grams of cocaine; over 310 grams of methamphetamine tablets; and more than 967 grams of marijuana.
Coleman pled guilty on January 15.
The Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives Washington Field Division investigated this case. Assistant U.S. Attorney Eric Gilliland prosecuted it.
