Alexandria Bullock, a postal worker from Wimauma, pleaded guilty on July 16 to theft by a postal employee in Tampa, Florida. Bullock faces up to five years in federal prison. The sentencing date has not yet been determined, according to U.S. Attorney Gregory W. Kehoe.
According to the plea agreement, Bullock began working for the United States Postal Service in April 2019. While performing her duties on her mail route, she knowingly and unlawfully embezzled items of mail entrusted to her care. These items included checks payable to individuals, charities, and legal entities.
The plea agreement states that Bullock altered the payee line of the stolen checks so they were made out in her own name before depositing them into her bank account.
The case was investigated by the United States Postal Service – Office of Inspector General and is being prosecuted by Special Assistant United States Attorney Chris Poor.
A sentencing hearing will be scheduled at a later date.
