A Providence man pleaded guilty on Aug. 4 in federal court in Rhode Island to charges related to methamphetamine and fentanyl trafficking. Kyle Lemay, 20, admitted to conspiracy to distribute 500 grams or more of methamphetamine, possession with intent to distribute 500 grams or more of methamphetamine, conspiracy to distribute 40 grams or more of fentanyl, and possession with intent to distribute 40 grams or more of fentanyl.
Lemay is scheduled for sentencing on November 3. The sentence will be determined by a federal district judge based on the U.S. Sentencing Guidelines and other statutory factors.
According to court documents, Lemay worked as a runner for a transnational narcotics trafficking organization operating out of the Dominican Republic. During the investigation, law enforcement agents seized over fourteen pounds of crystal methamphetamine and 275 grams of fentanyl from Lemay’s residence in Providence.
The case is being prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorney Julie M. White. The investigation was conducted by the Drug Enforcement Administration Providence District Office with assistance from the Newport Police Department and Providence Police Department.
This prosecution is part of the Homeland Security Task Force initiative established by Executive Order 14159, Protecting the American People Against Invasion. The task force aims to dismantle criminal cartels, foreign gangs, transnational criminal organizations, and human smuggling networks operating within the United States and abroad.
