Kyle Beck, a 23-year-old man from Rapid City, South Dakota, was sentenced to 15 years in federal prison on July 24 following his conviction for attempted sexual exploitation of a minor, attempted enticement of a minor using the internet, and attempted receipt of child pornography. United States Attorney Ron Parsons announced the sentencing on July 28.
Beck will also serve five years of supervised release and was ordered to pay a $300 special assessment to the Federal Crime Victims Fund. He was indicted by a federal grand jury in March 2024 and convicted after a court trial held on May 12, 2026.
Evidence presented at trial showed that Beck messaged a 15-year-old girl via Instagram on May 28, 2023, requesting sexually explicit photographs. During an interview with authorities, Beck admitted to his conduct. The investigation involved the South Dakota Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force, the South Dakota Division of Criminal Investigation, the Rapid City Police Department, and Homeland Security Investigations. Supervisory Assistant U.S. Attorney Kirk Albertson prosecuted the case.
The case is part of Project Safe Childhood—a nationwide initiative launched by the Department of Justice in May 2006—to combat child sexual exploitation and abuse by coordinating federal, state, and local resources to locate offenders and assist victims. Beck was immediately remanded into custody following sentencing.
