U.S. Department of Health and Human Services Secretary Robert F. Kennedy, Jr. visited Wisconsin on June 2 as part of his national “Take Back Your Health” Tour, accompanied by Representative Derrick Van Orden. The visit focused on recognizing the contributions of dairy farmers, infant formula manufacturers, and faith-based recovery organizations in strengthening America’s food supply, improving public health, and combating addiction.
“I thank Rep. Van Orden, Gilbertson Farm, and Perrigo for welcoming me today,” Secretary Kennedy said. “America’s health depends on the food we produce, the nutrition we provide our youngest Americans, and the support we offer those struggling with addiction. Wisconsin’s farmers, manufacturers, and faith-based organizations are helping lead the way as we Make America Healthy Again.”
Congressman Van Orden said, “Wisconsin is home to people who are improving lives and strengthening communities every day. I thank Secretary Kennedy for his leadership and commitment to improving health outcomes for American families. Wisconsin is proud to be part of that effort, and I was honored to welcome him to our state.”
Kennedy began his visit at Gilbertson Farm in Clear Creek with a tour of their dairy cattle facility before participating in a roundtable discussion alongside Van Orden; Chris Carroll from SAMHSA; Monty Burks from HHS; farm owner Kevin Gilbertson; industry leaders; and faith-based organizations addressing addiction treatment.
During this discussion, Kennedy highlighted President Trump’s support for American farmers as well as the nutritional benefits of whole milk recognized in federal dietary guidelines. He also discussed initiatives such as President Trump’s Great American Recovery Initiative—a $100 million investment aimed at addressing homelessness issues related to opioid addiction by expanding treatment focused on recovery—and historic Trump administration actions opening grant opportunities for faith-based groups treating addiction.
Later in Eau Claire, Kennedy toured Perrigo’s infant formula facility where he noted recent FDA testing results under Operation Stork Speed targeting infant formula safety standards across the country.
