United States Secretary of Homeland Security Markwayne Mullin praised President Trump’s nomination of Lance Schroyer to serve as Director of U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement, according to a June 27 statement from the Department of Homeland Security.
Mullin said, “President Trump has nominated Lance Schroyer to serve as the ICE Director. With over 29 years of law enforcement experience, Lance will play a vital role in helping deliver on the President’s mandate from the American people to target, arrest, and deport illegal aliens.”
Mullin continued, “Lance is coming straight from the operational field where he ran large-scale operations and worked alongside state and federal partners to remove illegal aliens from Oklahoma under the 287g program.” He also said, “President Trump made a great pick, and I’m confident Lance’s strong leadership and firsthand experience will empower the men and women of ICE to deport criminal illegal aliens, secure the homeland, and protect the American people.” Mullin added that it has been 11 years since DHS has had a Senate-confirmed ICE Director and called for quick confirmation.
Schroyer currently serves as Senior Advisor to the Secretary of Homeland Security. In this role, he oversees strategic coordination of immigration enforcement efforts and acts as liaison among local, regional, and federal law enforcement agencies. Previously, he served as Major at the Oklahoma Department of Public Safety over its Emergency Services Unit. There he directed operational activity across specialized units handling abducted child recovery, disaster response, civil disturbance management, immigration enforcement initiatives such as 287(g), dignitary protection duties, threat assessment tasks, and rapid response deployments.
Schroyer’s background includes more than 29 years in public service with experience in de-escalation tactics, incident management operations involving special weapons teams (SWAT), interview techniques for interrogations, crisis management during disasters or emergencies requiring rapid deployment services aimed at preserving life or property; team development for tactical responses; spearheading multi-agency collaborations on immigration enforcement; building teams responsible for event security; directing dignitary protection assignments; developing strategies ensuring constitutional safeguards are maintained during policy implementation.
Schroyer is also a former Oklahoma State Trooper and United States Marine.
