Secretary of State Marco Rubio met with Paraguayan President Santiago Peña on June 13, reaffirming the strong bonds and shared commitments that have defined the U.S.-Paraguay strategic partnership over the past 18 months, according to Spokesperson Tommy Pigott.

The meeting focused on ongoing collaboration between the two countries in areas such as economic growth, security cooperation, and trade. The U.S. International Development Finance Corporation and the Export-Import Bank are working to support projects aimed at advancing Paraguay’s economic growth and aligning with U.S. strategic priorities. These efforts include initiatives for developing advanced digital infrastructure.

Both nations discussed strengthening regional security cooperation and advancing trade and investment across sectors of mutual interest. The discussion underscored a commitment to further deepen bilateral relations through joint efforts in key areas.

The meeting is part of continued engagement between the United States and Paraguay under broader frameworks like alliances, partnerships, and organizations focused on economic prosperity and security diplomacy in the Americas region.
