The Senate Health, Education, Labor, and Pensions Committee will vote on the nomination of Erica Schwartz to be Director of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention on July 23. The committee announced that the vote will take place at 11:45 AM Eastern Time in the vestibule off the floor, also known as The Lobby. The session is closed to the press due to its location in the Senate Lobby, with vote totals expected to be released shortly after.

The agenda includes only one item: consideration of Schwartz’s nomination for CDC Director. Members of the press and public will not have access to observe this proceeding directly.

The Senate Health, Education, Labor, and Pensions Committee works to legislate on public health, education, workforce issues and retirement programs with the goal of protecting health and supporting worker rights; it influences federal regulations affecting health and education across the United States; provides oversight of federal laws and agencies in health and labor; focuses on federal policy in health, education and labor sectors; oversees agencies like the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) and National Institutes of Health (NIH); and in the 119th Congress was chaired by Bill Cassidy, according to the official website.
