U.S. Senator Joni Ernst, Chair of the Senate Small Business Committee, announced on Aug. 3 that Present Company of Audubon County has been named her Small Business of the Week. Ernst plans to recognize a small business in each of Iowa’s 99 counties throughout the 119th Congress.

“Present Company has been the gift that keeps on giving to Audubon for more than three decades,” said Chair Ernst. “From helping revitalize Main Street to supporting countless local events and charities, Telia Carter and her team continue to present the very best of Iowa’s entrepreneurial spirit. Their commitment to exceptional service, unique products, and hometown values proves that investing in your community always comes back around.”

Present Company was founded in 1990 by Nancy Oleson as a home décor boutique in downtown Audubon. In 2022, ownership transitioned to Telia Carter, who has continued the tradition of personalized customer service while updating inventory for customers from Audubon and surrounding communities. The boutique remains a staple in downtown Audubon, offering gifts, home décor, apparel, jewelry, and specialty items.

The Senate Small Business and Entrepreneurship Committee supports informed decision-making on national fiscal priorities; offers Congress comprehensive policy options on federal budget components; features Lindsey Graham as chairman and Jeff Merkley as ranking member; contributes to the congressional budget process via resolutions and reconciliation instructions; was established through the Congressional Budget and Impoundment Control Act of 1974; and provides nonpartisan budgetary analysis through oversight of the Congressional Budget Office, according to the official website.

Chair Ernst will continue highlighting outstanding small businesses across Iowa with her weekly recognition.
