Anthony Little Hoop, a 36-year-old resident of Sioux Falls, was sentenced on July 14 to two years and four months in federal prison for failing to register as a sex offender. U.S. District Judge Eric C. Schulte also ordered five years of supervised release and imposed a $100 special assessment to the Federal Crime Victims Fund.
Little Hoop was indicted by a federal grand jury in April and pleaded guilty on May 7. He had previously been convicted of sexual abuse in United States District Court, District of South Dakota in September 2012, which required him to register as a sex offender and update his registration within three business days after any change in residence, employment, or student status.
According to court documents, Little Hoop updated his registration in November 2025 when he was residing at an address in Sioux Falls but left that residence the following month without updating his registration. An arrest warrant was issued after this violation, and he was arrested on March 11, 2026.
United States Attorney Ron Parsons said the case is part of Project Safe Childhood, an initiative launched by the Department of Justice in May 2006 aimed at combating child sexual exploitation and abuse. The project involves U.S. Attorney’s Offices working with the DOJ’s Child Exploitation and Obscenity Unit to prosecute offenders and rescue victims.
The case was investigated by the United States Marshals Service and prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorney Kimberly Zachrison. Little Hoop was immediately remanded into custody following sentencing.
