The Department of State announced on July 30 that it will make an additional 250,000 special commemorative passports available to the public. The expansion allows Americans nationwide to apply for the “Patriot Passport,” a document created in celebration of the 250th anniversary of American independence.
The Department said that extraordinary public interest following the initial release prompted this increase in supply. “Americans all across the country will now have the opportunity to apply for one of these additional special passports, known as the ‘Patriot Passport,'” application events are being hosted at passport agencies and centers throughout the nation.
The commemorative passport includes custom artwork designed to connect America’s past with its present. Features include a portrait of President Donald J. Trump alongside the text of the Declaration of Independence, a Freedom 250 gold flag, and an image depicting the Founding Fathers signing the Declaration.

The initiative is part of broader efforts by the Department’s Bureau of Consular Affairs and Office of the Spokesperson to mark major national milestones through official documentation.
