Bill Clears Way For Tax-Exempt Tribal Bonds

News Release: Washington, DC - U.S. Senators Gordon Smith (R-Ore.) and Max Baucus (D-Mont.) have introduced legislation giving Tribal governments limited ability to issue tax-exempt governmental bonds. The Tribal Government Tax-Exempt Bond Parity Act of 2006 places Indian Tribes on an equal footing with state and local governments to issue tax-exempt bonds to fund governmental programs from schools to roads to recreational facilities.


Committee Hears From New York's Agriculture Producers

News Release: CANANDAIGUA, NY - House Committee on Agriculture Chairman Bob Goodlatte today convened a field hearing in Canandaigua, New York to review federal farm policy. Roughly 130 local producers, agribusiness leaders, and agriculture officials attended the hearing. The Committee heard from two panels of witnesses about a variety of farm policy issues including specialty crops, forestry, crop insurance, world trade negotiations, research, and dairy issues.
