Constitution Week 2008

Access Update for Bodie Island Spit

News Release: Superintendent Mike Murray announced today that Bodie Island Spit reopened to off-road vehicle (ORV) access. The reopening of 0.5 of a mile of shoreline provides access to Oregon Inlet, a prime fall fishing area within Cape Hatteras National Seashore. The ocean shoreline is open from Ramp 4 south for 2.1 miles to Oregon Inlet and from Ramp 4 north for 2.1 miles.

Extreme Fire Danger on Thursday, August 28, 2008 for Point Reyes National Seashore

News Release: Point Reyes National Seashore Superintendent Don Neubacher stated that based on this afternoon’s weather, fire danger at the Seashore will be rated as “Extreme" tomorrow, on Thursday, Aug. 28, prompting several precautionary measures at the park. Superintendent Neubacher explained, “When fire danger is extreme, we take extra steps to prevent a wildfire and ask the public to be extra aware of their actions as well.".
