NPS Offers September 4thFull Moon Tour of the Cape Hatteras Lighthouse

Park Prepares for Fall Prescribed Fire

News Release: Wind Cave National Park, S.D. - Fire crews are busy laying hose and constructing mow lines in preparation for a 617-acre prescribed fire planned this fall in Wind Cave National Park. If weather and fuel conditions are within prescription, park management plans to conduct the fire in an area west of the visitor center and south of the Elk Mountain Campground.


DOE Announces More than $8.4 Million for Regional Sequestration Technology Training Projects

News Release: Washington, DC - U.S. Department of Energy Secretary Steven Chu today announced more than $8.4 million in funding to develop regional sequestration technology training projects. The seven projects will facilitate the transfer of knowledge and technologies required for site development, operations, and monitoring of commercial carbon capture and storage projects.


Ahwahnee Hotel to Reopen in Yosemite National Park

News Release: After several small rockfalls occurred yesterday in Yosemite Valley directly above the Ahwahnee Hotel, the hotel was temporarily closed for precautionary measures. The rockfalls released from the Royal Arches, a rock formation directly above the hotel. Several small rocks landed in the parking lot causing minor damage to three vehicles. No injuries or structural damage were reported.
