Fisherman Swept into Ocean at Point Reyes National Seashore on January 20, 2014

News Release: At approximately 12:10 pm today, an individual fisherman was swept out to sea off of Point Reyes Beach North while fishing by himself. Several eye witnesses said a wave knocked down the fisherman's ice chest and dragged it out into the ocean. The fisherman went in after the ice chest and was quickly overcome by waves. The National Park Service and Henry 1 rescue helicopter from Sonoma County recovered the body shortly thereafter, but the individual was already deceased.
