News Release: GREENEVILLE, TN - On Sept. 29, 2014, Lonnie Gene Greer, Jr., 36, of Jonesborough, Tenn., was sentenced by the Honorable J. Ronnie Greer, U.S. District Judge, to serve 180 months in federal prison. Upon his release from prison, Greer will be subject to supervision by the U.S. Probation Office for three years. There is no parole in the federal system.

Zion National Park Releases Name of Deceased Hiker

News Release: The name of the hiker's body that was found by park rangers yesterday in the Zion Canyon Narrows in Zion National Park has been identified as Douglas Yoshi Vo, 34, of Westminster, California. Vo and a companion had attempted a hike in the Zion Canyon Narrows on Saturday morning, Sept. 27, when they encountered a flash flood. The companion was able to make it out of the canyon. But Vo was trapped on high ground by the flood.


News Release: BOISE - Paul Edward Parnell, 47, of Twin Falls, Idaho, was sentenced today to 188 months in prison for unlawfully possessing a firearm, U.S. Attorney Wendy J. Olson announced. Chief U.S. District Judge B. Lynn Winmill also ordered Parnell to serve four years of supervised release, pay a $1,000 fine, and forfeit the firearm and ammunition he illegally possessed. He was found guilty after a bench trial on Aug. 19, 2014.
