BLM Selects Deb Horner as 2015 White Mountains Artist in Residence

News Release: FAIRBANKS - The Bureau of Land Management’s Eastern Interior Field Office has selected Fairbanks artist Deb Horner as its winter Artist in Residence for 2015. The BLM will host Horner from March 29 to April 3 in the White Mountains National Recreation Area.

News Release: Baltimore, Maryland - A former U.S. Postal Service (USPS) letter carrier, Antoinette McDaniels, age 46, of Windsor Mill, Maryland, pleaded guilty today to a bribery and drug conspiracy in which she accepted bribes to divert packages of marijuana sent through the mail and deliver the packages to co-conspirators. Former USPS letter carrier, Hilary Gainey, age 26, of Baltimore, pleaded guilty to the same charges on March 6, 2015.


Anthony Montesino Of Bronx, New York Sentenced To Time Served And Two Years Of Supervised Release After Conviction Of Possession Of A Firearm As A Convicted Felon

News Release: The Office of the United States Attorney for the District of Vermont stated that Anthony Montesino, 31, of Bronx, New York was sentenced today to a time served sentence for possessing a firearm as a convicted felon. United States District Judge William K. Sessions III also ordered that Montesino serve a two-year period of supervised release.


News Release: CHARLESTON, W.Va. - William E. Tis and Charles E. Herzing, former owners, officers, and directors of Freedom Industries, Inc., pleaded guilty in federal court in Charleston today to an environmental crime in connection with the January 2014 Elk River chemical spill, U.S. Attorney Booth Goodwin announced. Both men pleaded guilty to causing the unlawful discharge of MCHM into the Elk River without a permit. Sentencing is set for June 22, 2015.

Headquarters Visitor Center Now Open As Of 8am March 17

Visitors will once again be able to obtain park information and camping permits at this visitor center, which is just a few minutes drive past the Summit Entrance Station.
