Statement Concerning the Tractor-Trailer of Undocumented Aliens Found in Southwest San Antonio on July 23, 2017

News Release: For clarification the number of persons recovered from the trailer was 39, not the 38 reported earlier. The 39th person had been in the trailer but authorities found him this morning in a wooded area nearby. The number of individuals who have died has risen to nine. All of the deceased are adult males.


News Release: An indictment was returned July 21 charging Ikaika Erik Kang, 34, an Army sergeant first class stationed at Schofield Barracks, Hawaii, with attempting to provide material support to the Islamic State of Iraq and al-Sham (ISIS), a designated foreign terrorist organization. Kang was previously arrested on July 8, and ordered detained pending further proceedings.
