Plattsburgh Man Sentenced to 18 Years in Connection with Fatal Overdose

News Release: SYRACUSE, NEW YORK - Thomas A. Burnell, age 36, of Plattsburgh, New York, was sentenced today to 18 years in prison for selling heroin mixed with fentanyl that caused the death of a customer. Senior United States District Judge Norman A. Mordue also sentenced Burnell to 30 months in prison for possessing a weapon while detained on federal charges at the Clinton County Jail.


News Release: SPRINGFIELD, Ill. - U.S. District Judge Sue E. Myerscough today sentenced a former Decatur business owner, Noman Hizam, 37, to five years in prison for possession with intent to distribute synthetic cannabinoids, known as Spice and K2. Hizam, of Harristown, was further ordered to remain on supervised release for three years following his prison term. Hizam has remained in the custody of the U.S. Marshals Service since his arrest in July 2016.
