U.S. Attorney's Office Collects Over $3M in Civil and Criminal Penalties

News Release: PROVIDENCE - United States Attorney Aaron L. Weisman announced today that the District of Rhode Island collected $3,256,549.78 in criminal and civil actions in Fiscal Year 2019. Of this amount, $1,633,893.21 was collected in criminal actions and $1,622,656.57 was collected in civil actions.

U.S. Department of Labor Fines Florida Roofing Contractor For Repeatedly Exposing Employees to Fall Hazards

News Release: FORT LAUDERDALE, FL - The U.S. Department of Labor's Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) has cited CJM Roofing Inc. - based in West Palm, Florida - for exposing employees to fall and other hazards at three residential worksites in Royal Palm Beach and Port St. Lucie, Florida. The contractor faces penalties totaling $291,724.


BLM AFS Seeks Contracts for Alaska Village-Based  Type 2 Wildland Firefighting Crews

News Release: FAIRBANKS - The Bureau of Land Management Alaska Fire Service (BLM AFS) is soliciting contracts for Type 2 wildland firefighting hand crews based in rural Alaska villages for the 2020 fire season. Multiple contractors may be selected to base crews in communities in the Upper Yukon, Tanana and Galena Fire Management Zones for quick response to fires within the BLM AFS protection area, which covers the northern half of the state.

Previously Removed Mexican National Sentenced to Seven Years On Prostitution, Narcotics and Firearms Offenses

News Release: United States Attorney Matthew D. Krueger announced that on Dec. 23, 2019, Jose Facio-Santos, a citizen of Mexico illegally in the United States after having been previously removed, was sentenced to seven years in federal prison for selling cocaine, heroin, and firearms, and transporting women into Milwaukee for purposes of prostitution. Upon completion of his sentence, he will be removed again to Mexico.
