West Richland Man Extradited From Kazakhstan Sentenced to 23 Years in Prison for Child Pornography Offenses

News Release: Richland, Washington - On January 6, U.S. District Judge Salvador Mendoza, Jr. sentenced Trent Drexel Howard, 50, of West Richland, Washington, to 23 years in federal prison for attempted production of child pornography. Judge Mendoza also ordered Howard to serve an additional 20 years on federal supervision after he is released from prison. Howard pleaded guilty on Sept. 23, 2021.

King, U.S. Attorney for the Western District of North Carolina. Judge Bell also ordered Woods to serve three years of supervised release and to pay $923,915 in restitution.

Valles Caldera National Preserve Begins Winter Prescribed Burns

News Release: Jemez Springs, NM - Tomorrow, January 8, the National Park Service will begin the prescribed burn projects in Valles Caldera National Preserve by burning piles of previously thinned materials in the Cerro Seco area. This is the first of five areas around the preserve where burn piles have been prepared. The operation is expected to take a few days to complete. The purpose is to reduce hazardous fuels and the chance for future high-intensity wildfires.
